I did have a watery eye this morning, as I did on my train home from Charlton two years ago. I was lucky enough to see the mid-80s team with Aldridge, Houghton, etc, but Joey will always be my number-one favourite ever player. How Jerome and co held it together for commentary on the Charlton game, having to keep that news to themselves, I will never know.

I do think the video montage put out by the club with the fake cine-film overlay and morose piano misses the whole ‘celebration of life’ thing though.

Agree re the club montage. Their communications are all over the place at the moment.

Agree with the montage thing. We should definitely be into powerful crash, bang, wallop excitement inducing celebrations of his talent territory by now. The foundation is there to do the heavy lifting on the serious side of it.

Still can’t quite believe what happened to Joey, it’s just so heartbreaking. How lucky we were to have had him.

However, I completely agree with the comments about the montage, we should now be remembering how we felt when we watched him play, not focussing on how we felt when we heard he’d died.
