I'm not entirely sure we should necessarily take against a player that is really keen to remain playing in the Championship. It doesn't seem all that unreasonable a thing for a player to want to do. And if they are ultimately forced to drop down, who's to say that won't make them even more keen to knuckle down and prove everyone wrong and try to earn a move back to the Champo?
A club like ours can benefit from the odd one or two season spell from a total mercenary player slumming it in the third tier while they awaited a job somewhere higher-profile (Marvin Johnson anyone?) - we'd hamstring ourselves somewhat if we just held out for players who are deeply humbled and honoured to play for the mighty and noble Oxford United.
I'm also very wary about what supporters of any given club say about a player's attitude. Im sure there are countless examples of players being reviled at one club because of their 'attitude' but loved elsewhere. This lad might be a total nob with much too high an opinion of himself, but that doesn't mean he couldn't bring something valuable to us.
