It’s actually a bit healthier than I realised but plenty still to do. I’d ship out Baldock, Henry, Findlay, Seddon, Wildschut, and send Smyth and McGinty out on loan. Hardly original thoughts I’m aware.
As for strengthening, I guess this depends on whether LM intends to play a back three or four. Regardless, we clearly need strikers and at least one LB/LWB. Would also like Bate back if he’s fit but may well get a start with Leeds going down.

Joe_Citrone I'm resigned to losing him to a higher division team at some point in the future, but it firmly feels like now would be wildly too early in his career to be making a move that would likely result on him being on the fringes of a squad for two seasons and occasionally sitting on the bench.

Not that I pay much attention to vague pronouncements from freelance journalists on twitter.

I agree with you. It feels like he needs game time to further develop and you’d think he’s likely to have a better chance of that here than another club higher up the pyramid.

If the price is right, though, he’ll be off. Combine that with an immediate loan back and it’s be hard to complain too much.

Got a similar feel too McNally, who I also think would have benefitted with another year at the club.

If he gets the move, fair play, but it's a big step up.

I think Cov fans might disagree. He was immense for them by all accounts last season and they desperately want him to sign permanently. But I do agree re Goodrham.

Tyler going speculation seems to be hotting up on Twitter. Got to say I’ll be sad about that, but would have been sadder had our transfer window so far not shown such promise

Seddon was one of the trialists playing for Burton Albion last night, according to Twitter.

Is Seddon still under contract with us? I think he would be ok as a backup LWB if we play a back three but never as LB.

brinyhoof completely agree. Looked better under Manning towards the end of the season but better options in the squad now. Hopefully we can recoup some of the money spent on him in the summer.

daleoufc89 Let's hope so. Signing a journeyman centre back to a four year deal was patent nonsense in the first place.

Yeah, good move for everyone involved.

Seemed like a hard working defender but mother alive that boy couldn't pass the ball for toffee. Absolutely no hope in a Manning team. Always reminded me of when Graham Rix tried to get Matt Bound playing tight one-touch tika-taka football out of defence.

Seddon now gone too. A season-long loan to Burton, but I think his contract is up next summer so that should be the last we see of him in an Oxford shirt.

Always felt that getting rid of players would be one of our biggest challenges this summer but, although Wildschut and Baldock still remain for now, we have not made a bad start on that front by any stretch.

Always baffles me how people get so caught up in this. "Brown is number 3 so must be LB" Why? By that logic, Rodrigues, Goodrham, McGuane and Murphy are guaranteed to be on the bench!

brinyhoof I'd say Jack Stevens last season is probably the clearest evidence that squad numbers don't mean squat.

Also, so many players these days have preferred numbers that are higher than 11 that it doesn't really mean that much.
