Is Seddon still under contract with us? I think he would be ok as a backup LWB if we play a back three but never as LB.

brinyhoof completely agree. Looked better under Manning towards the end of the season but better options in the squad now. Hopefully we can recoup some of the money spent on him in the summer.

Seemed like a hard working defender but mother alive that boy couldn't pass the ball for toffee. Absolutely no hope in a Manning team. Always reminded me of when Graham Rix tried to get Matt Bound playing tight one-touch tika-taka football out of defence.

Seddon now gone too. A season-long loan to Burton, but I think his contract is up next summer so that should be the last we see of him in an Oxford shirt.

Always felt that getting rid of players would be one of our biggest challenges this summer but, although Wildschut and Baldock still remain for now, we have not made a bad start on that front by any stretch.

Always baffles me how people get so caught up in this. "Brown is number 3 so must be LB" Why? By that logic, Rodrigues, Goodrham, McGuane and Murphy are guaranteed to be on the bench!

brinyhoof I'd say Jack Stevens last season is probably the clearest evidence that squad numbers don't mean squat.

Also, so many players these days have preferred numbers that are higher than 11 that it doesn't really mean that much.

Mainly Brown getting the number 3 shirt which means he is DEFINITELY first choice LB and he's not good enough (despite being POTY).

I know it's only pre-season, but it's great to hear Thorniley being extremely vocal across the backline at Eastleigh tonight! We need more of that across the park.

We were sorely lacking in leaders last season. People often looked to the likes of Henry and Long for some kind of hope in that department, but I'm not really sure having played football a lot, or having been at one club for a long time suddenly engenders Churchillian responses in people. It's been good to hear LM discuss that bringing in the right kinds of people has been as important as ability (might be paraphrasing him there a bit).

Completely agree with that. Was a distinct lack of leaders on the pitch at our lowest ebb last season. Still not convinced Moore is the best captain. Good to hear from James that there was better leadership last night

Just seen we are in talks to bring Stanley Mills in on loan from Everton. As he’s a right winger could this mean Goodrham is off as was rumoured? Can’t see Everton agreeing without the guarantee of minutes.
