Sorry to hijack this forum, but I’ve got an idea which you might be interested getting involved in: an Oxford United newsletter imaginatively called The Oxblogger Newsletter.
We don’t have a fanzine and while I don’t have the energy to start a proper one, a step in that direction would be an email version.
Oxblogger seems like a good platform to get something off the ground. As this is a home for more refined OUFC chat, you’re just the kind of people to take part.
I’m happy to receive contributions on any Oxford United related topic - reviews, previews, tactical analysis, historical pieces, off field, on field, funny, serious, weird, whatever you think might be interesting for people to read.
You’re welcome to submit something for every issue, take up a regular theme, or just submit something whenever you have something to say.
I’m not setting any rules around style or length. If you just want to do a paragraph about seeing Stephan Negru in Tesco, feel free.
My aim is to run it bimonthly for a year to see if it works. At the moment the schedule would look something like this:
7 August [submissions by: 1 August]
9 October [deadline: 1 October]
11 December [deadline: 1 December]
5 February [deadline: 1 February]
9 April [deadline 1 April]
4 June [deadline 1 June]
So, the first one will be sent out just before the start of the season - assuming there are contributions.
The tech will be fairly basic initially, but if the audience grows, it might be worth doing something more sophisticated. Overall, what I’m saying is that it’s an evolving thing.
So, hopefully it’s something you might be interested in. Feel free to get writing, submit ideas, ask questions etc. It would be great to know if you’re planning on producing something and what it’s going to be about. Just in case everyone ends up doing the same thing.
I’ll send another reminder out in a couple of weeks to chase for contributions.
