So it would appear that Chaokoh are still on board, their logo emblazened across our groovy new training kits. How utterly fucking depressing. The Co-op are the latest supermarket to ditch Thailand cocunut milk due to the abuse of monkeys, as recently as April this year. I just don’t understand why our club wants to tarnish our reputation like this. I’ve written again to OxVox having been fobbed by Benson via them last year. He said he would be ‘monitoring’ the situation but clearly didn;t notice the actions of one of the country’s most ethically-minded retailers. A copy of my email:
Hi ******
I hope you are keeping well and looking forward to the new season. Sadly I need to write to you again because I have despairingly noticed that our training kit is still sponsored by Chaokoh. How utterly depressing that our club continues to choose to align itself with this despicable firm. You may be aware that the Co-op, bastions of ethical and community-focused initiatives, have recently (April 2024) chosen to source their coconut milk from Sri Lanka instead of Thailand due to the ongoing evidence of abuse of monkeys in that country. The details can be found here and Chaokoh are of course named as a company associated with these abuses:

I would be grateful please if OxVox could once again broach this matter with Adam Benson. Is the 24/25 sponsorship due to an existing ongoing contract or have we signed a new deal with Chaokoh? What further monitoring have the club undertaken, as commited to in Adam’s email? Are they aware that an organisation with such a reputation as the Co-op have stopped using Thailand’s cocunut milk?
Many thanks,
