I think the trick with that kind of thing would be to not over-commit to a frequency. Like aim for 4 a season or something - like the Fence End and T'Manor do with their pods... sort of just do one when they can be arsed and everyone's available.

FWIW I'd definitely be up for collaborating/contributing/co-ordinating something like that. It'd actually provide an outlet for a few ideas I've had recently for OUFC content.

You thinking full-on printed Rage On style of thing... hawk them for £2 a copy on the corner of the East and South Stands etc? Did Brodetsky stop doing that when he got the job at the club to do the programmes?

Just been having a long catch-up on here after an unplanned hiatus. But the mess that is YellowsForum reminded me that this forum exists as well.

I’d be well up for co-ordinating and contributing to a printed fanzine, it is something I’ve always pondered doing but being up in Derby means it would have to be online only, and there’s only so much OUFC “stuff” online that people are willing to read.

Maybe it’s one to peruse a bit further at the end of this season, with an eye on linking a launch with the process of the move to the new stadium - if/when it progresses?

It’s a story designed to generate maximum outrage and clickthroughs from both sides, and as a fanbase we’re entirely guilty of encouraging that approach, because without fail we share the links and everyone clicks it. Same with when Andy Ffrench is struggling to meet his daily quota for articles and clickthroughs and so publishes a controversial reader’s letter about the stadium as though it’s an article. They wouldn’t do it if we didn’t keep rising to the bait.

I will ping the general story over to the stadium thread though, as I do think there are things worth discussing in this, because there does seem to have been some level of a misjudgement from our board (possibly minor, possibly enormous) though reading between the lines, I do think it’s clear the story is an inflated representation of what seems to have actually occurred.

For the briefest of fleeting moments though, I had wondered if there was actually something else going on with the Ox Mail writing a misguided story or something. I suppose this is kind of related to the points you were making about community, but it was a daft notion really, because everyone is pretty cohesive on that front: it’s notable that there’s zero beef between the OUFC media and content producers. Like the podcasts happily cross-promote, the BBC and Ox Mail are friendly, there’s that YouTube lad that everyone seems to ignore but not in a hostile way… all of this is nice, but at the same time, a teeny part of me would enjoy the soap opera of there being some legitimate beef between say, two rival podcasts.

Isn’t such beef within your gift now? You’ll have to go T’Manor, there’s slightly more of an edge to them than the Fence End Fellas.

I’ll be honest, I thought it was an opportunity to counterbalance the anti-stadium lot rather than to address our own fans (who obviously know this stuff). It was your point on that excellent podcast you do about FSB framing football as just a cause for bad. Because they filter their bs through the Oxford Mail, I thought it would be good to filter ours through there too.

I mean, the OxMail is clearly in terminal decline, which is driving their appetite for controversy, it’s a race to the bottom. I’m predicting AI match reports within 12 months.

Happy to wage a needless war on one of the other podcasts - which one should we do?
