It's not looking great, but I'm hanging my hopes on the following:

Journos, even Sky ones, are used by agents etc to feed stories into social media to manipulate negotiating positions. That's why that Alan Nixon bloke, who seems to be in every player agent's black book gets so many scoops but it's also why he's occasionally wrong - just like he was with us and McCann.
Betting was suspended on Robbie Fowler AND Grant McCann when we were looking for a manager. It can just mean everybody has lumped on a particular person (and given the Sky person's tweet, of course they have) and be nothing to do with any insider knowledge on behalf of the betting firms.

I'm 95% certain Hogg would go with him if he went so I'm going back in for Sexy Des if Manning goes.

The club have given him:

the chance to rebuild his reputation
permission to bring his own team and one person lost their job because of it
their full backing in the transfer market

While he looks to be saying goodbye at the first approach from mid-level Championship club. I get the financial boost it would provide him (in the short-term, at least), but I thought there was more to him than that. I still hope there is.

I was so looking forward to the Leyton Orient game. Talk about a probable dampener.

Listening to The Dub I’ve no doubt he’s going. But I also very much hope Hogg is offered the job. His rate of ‘in terms of’s is phenomenal.

My take on the Dub content is that it's a very clear indication that he/they are speaking to Bristol. I'd say that isn't the same as them definitely offering it and/or Manning definitely taking it. I'd say it's probably pretty likely they will though, their spending power is just so far above ours, but there's still a teeny tiny chance he might stay.

Really depressing though. And so SO unbelievably Oxford.

Just want it announced now so that we can move on and secure a replacement. I'm sure that process is underway of course and given Manning's appointment I guess we have to trust they will get it right again.

The knock-on effect is going to be horrible though. Demoralised players? Backroom staff all leaving? Players leaving for Brizzle in January? I can see McGuane going at the very least.

Its all so deflating.

I don't want it announced because I don't want it to happen!

I had a look at The Other Place this morning. My God, it doesn't get any better! The vitriol being poured Manning's way when, in my eyes, he has done nothing wrong (yet) is quite astonishing. That and the demands for the club to issue some sort of statement. I mean, why? As it stands, Manning is under contract as our manager and is getting on with the job. If the club issued a statement to dispel every rumour, Chris Williams would be working 24/7 to churn them out!

But, yeah, if he does go in the next 24/48hrs, I would have some questions over his integrity. There's no way that he wouldn't have been approached by the time he gave his post-match interview on Saturday; modern manager recruitment isn't as quick as people think, especially when the Lansdowne's are keen to make sure they get it right this time with somebody who fits their vision for the club.
