Admittedly though I pretty much immediately regretted my decision to buy this season’s - I have the blue one and I bought it on impulse because I got carried away with the excitement of being at the kit launch party thing. I think I was regretting it while I was actually in the process of buying it.

Thought I’d test the theory that in recent years we’ve been wearing the away kits more, and that we’ve been wearing them less this season. Here’s a chart of how many times we’ve worn an away kit of any description both at this point of the season, and in total at the end of the season.

Definitely an uptick in the last couple of seasons and a drop this season, but it’s not unprecedentedly low this season. The gigantic spike in away kit usage was the season we had the mostly-blue-stripey kit, which presumably clashed with everything under the sun.

Also, an interesting side note is the stats back up the suggestion that KR liked white kits. In the three seasons under him that we had three kits and one of them was white, we wore the white kit more than the other away kit. And in two of those, the white kit was the third kit.

Swerve a fine? I didn’t think there was any requirement that the club HAS to wear the away kit, only if there’s a clash?

I must admit, I’m ambivalent about how often the change kits get worn. I imagine the majority of people are buying kits as a way of showing support generally, and having home/away/third kits simply gives a degree of choice in that. I can’t imagine that there will be many who will moan that they have bought an away kit and it’s only getting worn a couple of times a year.

JonnyBiscuits I’m guessing its related to nailing down a shirt sponsor. There was an interesting conversation on the last Dub about morally-dubious sponsors whose services are not available in the UK. Not sure if it was referring to what has gone before but I can’t see the owners having any issues given our relationships with monkey-abusers and Bangkok-based glaziers.

brinyhoof I heard that more as a speculative conversation on what they club might be wrestling with as whether or not to take sponsorship from gambling firms has been a common theme for all Champo clubs in recent years.

I also thought it was more an attempt at personal justification from Elek about why he’s taking sponsorship from gambling firms by claiming that British gambling firms are noble, honourable and transparent in comparison to some of the dubious, unregulated, unaccountable far-eastern gambling firms some Champo clubs have taken sponsorship from.

He was making an absolutely ludicrous argument of course. British gambling firms being less unethical than unregulated Chinese ones, doesn’t make British firms ethical. Stealing a child’s bag of Maltesers being less mean than stealing their playstation and setting fire to all their toys, but that doesn’t make it ok to steal a child’s bag of Maltesers.

The majority of Jerome’s insider knowledge came from Chris Williams - I’m not sure Benson is the kind of person to share intel about ongoing sponsorship negotiations with anybody.

That said, if anybody is gonna be eyeing up a dodgy deal with a Malaysian gambling cartel in exchange for an untracable gigantic carrier bag of used fivers, it’s Adam Benson.

JonnyBiscuits defintely whiffed of Elek trying to justify his massive stake in the gambling industry, deflecting by referencing BG and Chaokoh without actually saying their names.

What are the chances we start the season wearing those kits worn for the friendlies? Or perhaps a set of We Are Championship leftover t-shirts?
