He got involved with the Haas F1 team, promising significant investment which never materialised and they dropped him pretty quickly. The original company behind Rich Energy have been in liquidation for a few years and from reading the liquidators report there seems to have been a significant difference between the debt declared on their company accounts and the sums now being pursued by creditors (and, reading between the lines, a massive chunk of that is the company director(s)).
He previously approached Sunderland a couple of times but was swiftly laughed out of the building.
Rich Energy is still being marketed although it seems to be impossible to buy it anywhere! Quite simply, there is no way the guy has the money to go through with the deal for Reading and I strongly doubt he could find credible lenders to front up the money either.
